Pinecone Christmas Tree | Dollar Tree DIY

We’re celebrating a Warm + Cozy Christmas this year. Cotton and twine, moss and vine… It’s natural, simple and full of space for creating our own family memories as we celebrate the reason for the season.

I made these Pinecone Christmas Trees for a wood element on our mantle using only Dollar Tree supplies. My two year old is too young to use the hot glue gun (or be within range because… toddlers) but he loved helping sort the pinecones before I started assembling.

Include your littles ones by practicing sorting by size and counting so they feel like part of the process too!

Supplies

Dollar Tree foam cones

4 bags Dollar Tree Cinnamon Scented Pinecones per tree

1 Dollar Tree cylinder gift box

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

Directions

1. Sort pinecones by size – large, medium and mini. (Now would be a good time to heat up the glue gun too!)

2. Starting with the largest, attach a row of pinecones around the base of the foam cone.

3. Continue moving up by interlocking the pinecones, like brick. As you get closer to the top, you may need to use more medium sized pinecones. Pick out a really good one for the very top!

4. Using the mini size, go back and fill in the gaps by glue one or two in each space.

5. Separate the cylinder gift box. Paint with your choice of paint and color to resemble bark. I drybrushed with offwhite.

Attach each piece to the base of one tree. The two pieces are different sizes creating the perfect staggered set! For our mantle, I made 1 pinecone tree and 2 Fluffly Cotton Trees.

I love the natural Christmas timelessness of these trees! I know we’ll be enjoying them for many Christmases to come.
