They’re only little for a little while – but those memories of sunny days, wrinkly fingers and sandy toes live on infinitely.
As a way to capture my favorite summer memories with our little boy, I painted his sweet seersucker swim trunks on a whim. The result was beyond my expectations, so I quickly stalked my friends’ photos for pictures of their kiddos in summer attire. Each painting became my new favorite and the mission to preserve the memories of those little beach babies was on.
Throughout this time, our son was in the midst of Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) lessons. Ten minutes a day, five days a week for eight weeks we attended life saving swim lessons. It was rough at first (like really rough) but with patience and persistence, the method of this amazing program began to click. As I watched my little guy learn the skills, my mind was blown. Not just by his swimming, but by the incredible life lesson my two year old taught me.
Show up everyday. Little by little. Keep trying when it’s hard.
I pray your painting always remind you of two things: sweet, summertime memories + just how much our children (and their parents) are capable of when we push through the hard stuff and persist little by little every day.
Every Baby’s First Swimsuit Commission will provide one ISR lesson to a child who would not otherwise have this resource available. ISR does not teach kids how to swim – it teaches them how to survive. Survival should not be a privilege. After purchasing, I will reach out to you for photos of your desired bathing suit. Please allow 2-3 weeks for completion and delivery. Every painting is an artistic interpretation of your photograph.
